Electronic Media: Sanitisation and Physical destruction

When a PC or Laptop comes to the end of its useful life, care should be taken when disposing of it. Many PCs and laptops contain confidential information and should be disposed of properly. 

Third party service that will destroy old CDs, DVDs, USB pen drives or computer disks

UCC is currently looking for a new provider for the destruction of old media, and has yet to nominate one.

In the meantime, if you could please retain this media in a secure place IT Services notify staff when a new provider has been selected.

Guidelines

UCC has guidelines regarding the disposal of devices containing confidential data. Please familiarise yourself with them . The service detailed above should enable the UCC community to adhere to these guidelines.
