Author Kevin Barry to visit UCC

You are invited to a reading by talented Irish writer, Kevin Barry. Shortlisted for the Davy Byrne Writing Award, Barry went on to win the Rooney Prize for Irish Literature for his short story collection, These Are Little Kingdoms (2007). His story, 'Beer Trip to Llandudno', won the Sunday Times short story prize and features in his 2011 collection Dark Lies the Island. Short fiction by Kevin Barry has been published on both sides of the Atlantic, most recently in The New Yorker. In 2013 he was awarded the prestigious IMPAC Dublin Literary Award for his novel City of Bohane.

 

Kevin Barry will also offer a master class to MA in Creative Writing Students while in UCC.

 

This is one of a series of literary events to be held on campus this year, hosted by the School of English and supported by the Information Services Strategic Fund. Other featured writers include poets Vona Groarke and Billy Ramsell, biographer Matthew Hollis and leading theorist of digital textuality, Jerome McGann. Dates to follow!
