This talk will cover attitudes to genre fiction, positive and negative, and examine the cultural, historical and political reasons why genre scepticism may have been particularly persistent in Ireland until recently. It will also discuss notable Irish genre writers, some more familiar than others, with a particular focus on the mystery genre. John Connolly is the author of 37 books, including the internationally-bestselling Charlie Parker thriller series.
