New seminar series begins

The BEES annual lunchtime seminar series begins this week.

The first seminar is by BEES graduate Dr Martin Collins who is currently Chief Executive of the South Georgia Government. Dr Collins was awarded an OBE in the 2014 New Year's Honours lits in the UK.
After completeing his PhD in Cork, Martin lectured in Aberdeen for a while before joining BAS. His current role sees him responsible for fisheries management, tourism and the environment.
Martin's research in UCC was supervised by Professor Gavin Burnell and was on "The biology of the squid Loligo steenstrup in Irish Waters".
Martin Collins will speak on "Managing South Georgia's natural resources" on Friday 12th September at 1pm in CEC 7/8 on the North Mall campus. Everybody is welcome.
