Matthijs Schouten - father of bog conservation in Ireland

As BEES Adjunct Professor and Professor of restoration ecology at Wageningen University, Matthijs Schouten has been studying and helping to conserve Irish bogs since the 1980's.
Known as "the father of bog conservation in Ireland", he was knighted in 2004 by Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands for the role he played in highlighting the fate of Irish bogs.
Prof. Schouten featured in the Irish Times on Saturday last, 16th April in an article by Environment Editor Frank McDonald.
