University College Cork Announces Recruitment of Gaelic Games Officer to Drive the Next Chapter of Sporting Excellence
University College Cork (UCC), through its Department of Sport and Physical Activity (UCC Sport), is delighted to announce an exciting career opportunity for a Gaelic Games Officer, a permanent full-time position that will play a central role in the continued growth and development of Gaelic Games at one of Ireland’s most successful third-level sporting institutions.
The appointment comes at a pivotal time for UCC GAA, which operates a unique one-club model encompassing Hurling, Gaelic Football, Camogie and Ladies Gaelic Football, supporting more than 16 teams across multiple competitive grades. Based at the iconic Mardyke sports grounds, UCC GAA has a proud history of success in intervarsity competitions and has produced generations of county, provincial and national stars.
A Unique Opportunity to Shape the Future of Gaelic Games
The Gaelic Games Officer will be responsible for the delivery of a comprehensive programme that supports both participation and elite performance, while promoting student wellbeing, inclusion and sporting excellence. The position also includes collaboration with county and provincial GAA structures on coaching and games development initiatives throughout the year.
The successful candidate will lead the planning, coordination and development of Gaelic Games within the university, working closely with the UCC GAA Club Committee, student-athletes, coaches, alumni, Cork GAA and Munster GAA. The role will focus on strengthening participation pathways, enhancing performance programmes, supporting scholarship athletes, increasing female participation, and building strategic partnerships that will shape the future of Gaelic Games at UCC
