UCC Sport and Quercus Sport Scholarships: Key Dates and Details

- UCC Sport Scholarship Applications Close: August 18th, 2025
University College Cork (UCC) offers a range of scholarships to support talented athletes in their academic and sporting pursuits. Two prominent scholarship programs are the UCC Sport Scholarships and the Quercus Sport Scholarships.
UCC Sport Scholarships
The UCC Sport Scholarship program aims to support dual career athletes, helping them excel both academically and in their chosen sports. The scholarships are divided into two main categories:
- Individual Sport Scholarships: Open to athletes involved in individual sports or team sports other than the core sports.
- Team Sport Scholarships: Focused on core sports such as Hockey, Rugby, Soccer, and Gaelic games (Gaelic Football, Hurling, Ladies Gaelic Football, and Camogie).
The program provides a bursary and quality support in areas such as coaching, training, strength and conditioning, sports medical, sports physiology, and academic and life-skills support. Scholars are expected to compete for their UCC club and maintain their academic performance throughout the scholarship term.
Quercus Sport Scholarships
The Quercus Talented Students’ Programme at UCC supports students who demonstrate exceptional excellence in sports, academia, creative and performing arts, active citizenship, and innovation/entrepreneurship. Up to five Quercus Sport Scholarships are awarded to students registered on an undergraduate/level 8 program at UCC.
Applicants must be competing at the highest level in their chosen sport and show potential for further improvement. The scholarship can be renewed annually, provided the scholar meets the academic and sporting requirements.
