PhD (NFQ level 10)

The Law School is home to a thriving PhD programme. Reflecting the School’s international reputation for research excellence, the PhD programme has expanded in recent years and now hosts more than 40 international graduate students, many of whom are the recipients of prestigious scholarship awards. The Law School provides graduate research students with dedicated IT facilities, work spaces and seminar rooms.

LLM (NFQ level 9)

LLM by Research

Suitably qualified candidates may be accepted onto the LLM by Research programme (also known as LLM Mode B) on submission of a detailed research proposal. (Note also the existence of our PhD programme). The LLM by Research Degree involves writing a thesis of approximately 40,000 words under academic supervision. The degree can be completed in one or two years full-time (or two or four years part-time).

Taught LLMs

We have a wide range of Taught LLMs available through our postgraduate school (administrator: Veronica Calnan, v.calnan@ucc.ie) and these may be explored further on our postgraduate website.

Current specialist LLMs include areas such as: Business Law, Child and Family Law, Criminal Justice, Health and Care Law, Intellectual Property and E-Law, and International Human Rights and Public Policy.
