Registration and Saturday Evening Event

The following fees are applicable for registration confirmed and prepaid by 15 June 2009. Unfortunately, a late registration fee of €10.00 applies to all registrations received after this date. Please submit a completed Registration form with your remittance, indicating dietary needs (all participants and attendees) and audio-visual requirements (speakers).

Cheques/bank drafts should be in Euro or Sterling (apologies to participants from other currency zones!) and made payable to 'Department of Italian, University College Cork'.

Saturday Evening Event (open to all)

This will involve a tour of the Gaol led by actors, followed by a meal of cold canapes, with wine and minerals included.

Call for Papers

for the Third Interdisciplinary Conference of the Atlantic Alliance of Universities (NUI Galway, University of Limerick, University College Cork) Crime Genre Research Group on

Con(tra)vention: Crime and the Boundaries of Genre to be held at University College Cork, 26-27 June 2009

Proposals are invited for papers which focus on issues of contamination, cross-fertilization or hybridization of the crime genre, in its literary and screen manifestations, by other narrative forms, such as historical narrative, social and/or political commentary, science fiction, ‘true crime’, computer games, etc. Papers may refer to any language area, although, in the interest of interdisciplinary debate, they must be delivered in English.

Papers will be welcomed from a range of disciplines, including (but not limited to) modern languages, film studies, literary and cultural studies, gender studies, history, geography, sociology, and political science.

Abstracts (of 300 words maximum) and a short biography should be sent to corkcrime@gmail.com to reach us no later than Friday, 27 February 2009.  Papers should be no more than twenty minutes in length.
