Quicklist
The Erasmus+ Programme enables academic, professional and technical staff to participate in an Erasmus+ mobility.
Each year UCC receives funding to allow staff to travel under the following categories:
- Staff Training Mobility
- Teaching Staff Mobility
- Organisation of Mobility for Study/Placements
Staff Training Mobility
Staff Training visits ALL staff to spend a period of up to one week training at a university or an enterprise in another EU participating country. The objective of a staff training visit is to allow staff to acquire knowledge or specific know-how from experiences and good practices abroad as well as practical skills relevant for their day-to-day work and their professional development (conferences are not covered).
Teaching Staff Mobility
Teaching Staff visits enable academic staff to complete a short teaching period with an EU institution. The host institution must be a holder of the Erasmus Charter for Higher Education . There is an obligation to deliver at least 8 hours of teaching during the visit.
Organisation of Mobility for Study/Placements
Funding is available to support the promotion and organisation of the Erasmus+ programme. This may include visits to partner universities or host enterprises to strengthen cooperation, plan activities, and meet with staff and UCC students who are studying or completing work placements abroad. These funds help ensure high-quality mobility experiences and effective partnership management across the Erasmus+ network.

Search for UCC Erasmus+ Partner Universities
UCC has established a wide range of partner institutions which support key international activities such as staff and student exchanges, the development of joint academic programmes, research collaboration and other collaborative initiatives. Please click here for list of partners.
Eligible Duration
To ensure that as many staff members as possible can benefit from Erasmus+ staff mobility opportunities, the funded duration is currently set at a minimum of 2 days (excluding travel) and a maximum of 7 days (including travel). These limits help support broad participation while maintaining equitable access to available funding.
Erasmus Grant Support
Erasmus Subsistence Rates
The EU allocates a daily subsistence rate which covers the cost of accommodation and meals. Staff may claim for a maximum of 5 working days and the required travel days.
| Group | Country | Rate (per day) |

| 2000–2999 km | €395 |
| 3000–3999 km | €580 |

Enquiries
All enquiries regarding outgoing Erasmus+ staff mobility should be directed to Clare Murphy, Erasmus Coordinator, International Office. Email: claremurphy@ucc.ie
Incoming Erasmus+ Staff to UCC
Incoming staff wishing to participate in Erasmus+ Staff Teaching or Training activities must first be accepted by a member of staff in the relevant UCC department. This host staff member is responsible for organising and agreeing the proposed teaching and/or training activities.
Acceptance must be confirmed by all parties in advance. Hosting approval is dependent on:
- Agreement on the contents of the teaching or training plan.
- The timing and feasibility of the mobility period.
- The presence of a signed Erasmus+ Inter-Institutional Agreement (a mandatory requirement for Staff Mobility for Teaching).
Prospective visiting staff members should contact the relevant UCC department directly in the first instance. Contact details for schools and departments are available at: UCC Schools and Departments
Inter-Institutional Agreements
Inter-Institutional agreements are established with EU partners, primarily to facilitate student mobility. Provision in the agreement may also be made for staff mobility.
The agreement indicates the subject area, the number of student/staff places on the exchange, the level (undergraduate, PhD etc) and the duration period.
UCC has, over time, built up a stable complement of institutional partnerships and efforts have been made to ensure that student mobility “flows” are kept in reasonable balance.
All proposed Inter-Institutional agreements must be approved by the International Office.
UCC Erasmus Charter and Erasmus Policy Statement
UCC’s current Erasmus Charter for Higher Education (ECHE) was awarded in December 2020, enabling participation in the Erasmus+ programme 2021-27. The ECHE, supported by the Erasmus Policy Statement, acts as the quality framework for higher education institutes participating in Erasmus+ activities.
