English for Work and Life (EWAL) + Irish Culture

Come to our beautiful university campus in the heart of Cork city, Ireland.

Our English for Work and Life (EWAL) + Irish Culture and its traditions, history and identity course is available at different levels, from B1 to C2. Our EWAL course is designed to help you to improve in all areas of English language ability, but with a particular focus on the development of oral skills communication for use in a range of real-life situations.

In the mornings from 09:00 to 13:00, you will join our EWAL courses and work in small, friendly groups with students who come from all over the world. Our highly skilled teachers will help you to develop your English quickly while also having fun as you learn and interact with classmates.

We integrate the Connected Curriculum of our University into our lessons. The lesson content covers such diverse areas as employability, sustainability, civic engagement and global reach.

Over two afternoons (Tuesday and Thursday), we will provide two-hour interactive sessions

which will introduce participants to key aspects of Irish culture and identity and present Irish history

and traditions as a lens to understand and appreciate modern Ireland, while at the same time continuing to improve in all areas of English.

We understand that travelling to Ireland is an exciting adventure. As well as providing dynamic and learning-rich English language lessons, we also provide you with much information about cultural events happening in our University, Cork city and Ireland.

On completion of the course, we give all participants a certificate of attendance.

We are really looking forward to welcoming you here to our wonderful campus in the heart of Cork city, Ireland.

This course runs from August 10 to 14, with classes from 09:00 to 13:00 (Monday to Friday) and two 2-hour afternoon sessions.

What previous participants have said about our Staff Weeks:

It was better than I expected. The classes were engaging, fun and I got quite a few good ideas about what to pay special attention to when reading and writing texts.

Fredrik Häggström. KTH Stockholm

I have appreciated all the oral communication. It was very enriching, as everyone exchanged ideas and it allowed me to learn new words and expressions and I am more confident in English now.

Diana Signolet, Strasbourg, France
