Congratulations to Dr Gillian Collins on being awarded a Sustainable Laboratories Grant from the Royal Society of Chemistry for her project From Atom Economy to Atom Circularity. 

UCC has been named as one of the world's top universities for the study of 24 subjects according to the latest world subject rankings produced by higher education analysts, QS.

Dr Dean Venables from the School of Chemistry, along with UCC colleagues Dr Sarah Thelen, Cliona Maher and Dr John Barimo (virtually), recently represented UCC at the kick-off meeting of EngageSDG, a three year Erasmus+ funded project. The meeting was held in Cape Town and hosted by the University of the Western Cape.

The School of Chemistry was recently part of the I WISH Showcase 2024 in the RDS, Dublin, promoting STEM to teenage girls.

Congratulations to our MSc and PhD students whose conferring ceremonies took place on Wednesday the 20th of March, and our best wishes to them in their future endeavours.

The final year BSc Chemistry with Forensic Science class went on a tour of the State Laboratory in Kildare last week.

The School of Chemistry's EDI Unit organised an event for IUPAC's Global Women's Breakfast on 27^th February 2024 with the theme 'Catalysing Diversity in Science'.

More than 170 primary school children from 31 different schools competed in the annual Cork Primary Science Quiz held at University College Cork, organised by Cork City Council’s Lifetime Lab team in collaboration with UCC Chemistry.

With recently announced project funding form the Environmental Protection Agency, the Centre for Research into Atmospheric Chemistry (CRAC) at the School of Chemistry and the Environmental Research institute, UCC, will work with colleagues at the University of Galway to investigate sources of air pollution in Irish towns.

The School wishes to congratulate Sara Ann Biju who is currently chairing the WiSTEM Scoiety in UCC while undertaking her final year studies in Chemistry.
