UCC Innovation of the Year Award

Well done to Dr. Ger McGlacken, Rachel Shanahan and the quinolone group who were awarded the ‘Purdy Lucey Invention of the Year (Life Science)’ at UCC last week.

The patented project involves a collaboration with Prof Fergal O’Gara and Dr Jerry Reen and includes the design of molecules to mimic and interrupt communication systems within bacteria and fungi communities.
