Confucius Institute (CI)
Confucius Institute marked a presence at the 2023 Language Connect Summit, held on October 14, 2023, at the Dublin Convention Center.
This prestigious summit, supported by a consortium of educational organizations, including Language Connect, Post-Primary Languages Ireland (PPLI), the Department of Education, and more, stands as one of Ireland's most prominent events in modern foreign language education.
With over 1,200 attendees from across Ireland and abroad, the summit featured 55 seminars hosted by educators, international experts, and peer teachers, along with 65 exhibition booths. Distinguished keynote speakers, including Dr. Marissa Pérez Cañado, an expert in Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL), and Professor Terry Lamb from the University of Westminster, engaged in discussions on motivating language learning. Notably, the Cork Confucius Institute's materials, like the bilingual version of "Introduction to Chinese Language and Culture," "Chinese Literary Reader," and "Elementary Practical Business Chinese," received widespread acclaim.
The summit yielded substantial gains for the UCC CI, as it connected with potential students, local teachers, and educational institutions for collaborative opportunities. It also gleaned valuable insights from other language teaching models.
UCC CI's presence at the Language Connect Summit underscores its commitment to advancing Chinese language education in Ireland. This event not only strengthens our connections but also amplifies our contribution to enhancing the quality of language education in the region.
