Collingwood Cup Final Day

The highly anticipated Collingwood Cup kicked off on Monday, February 17th, delivering an action-packed day of university football with four thrilling matches.
17th of February: Day 1
University College Cork (UCC) impressed in their opening fixture, netting three goals to secure a well-earned victory. Ewan Lee, Craig Walsh, and Daniel McCarthy were the heroes on the scoresheet, each contributing a goal to ensure their side's triumph.
The University of Limerick (UL) showcased their attacking prowess with an impressive five-goal performance, securing a commanding 5-2 victory over Trinity College Dublin. As last year's Collingwood Cup champions, UL demonstrated why they remain a strong contender in this year's tournament.
The other matches were closely contested, with Galway edging out DCU 1-0 to secure victory. Meanwhile, Maynooth and UCD played to a 1-1 draw, with Maynooth ultimately prevailing in a tense penalty shootout (7-6).
18th of February: Day 2
UCC started the match strongly against UG but gave away a penalty opportunity. However, UCC goalkeeper Kevin Fitzpatrick made a crucial save, keeping the score level at the end of the first half.
In the second half, Galway gained momentum and took control, scoring twice to secure their place in the final. The goals came from Kevin Ketterick and David Tarmey.
The other semi final was contested by Maynooth University and University of Limerick. Maynooth emerged victorious with a 2-1 win.
19th of February: Day 3
