Daniel wins the BEES Education and Public Engagement Award

This award is designed to recognise and celebrate the positive contribution to public engagement made by the early career research community.

Daniel received the award on the basis of the extensive media engagement he led in association with his paper published last year in Papers in Palaeontology (Falk et al., 2022).

Media engagement included a recorded interview for US National Public Radio, interviews for several big German newspapers and broadcasters (e.g., Central German Broadcast (MDR) and BILD newspaper with an audience >200,000), and The Conversation UK (>70,000 reads). Daniel also wrote an article for RTE Brainstorm (>8,000 reads) and the UK Daily Mail. More than 27 websites and science programs picked up on the press release and his own social media posts.
