UCC students receive NUI awards
At a ceremony held at the Royal Hospital, Kilmainham, in November 2009, three UCC Italian students and graduates received awards from the National University of Ireland.
, who graduated from the BA (Language & Cultural Studies) Italian in 2007, was one of three UCC graduates to receive the prestigious NUI Travelling Studentship for doctoral studies. Patrick is currently studying for a PhD in Italian cultural history at University College London.
Roslyn Steer and Aoife O'Mullane, both students of the BA Arts-Music, were awarded respectively the Dr Henry Hutchinson Stewart Literary Scholarship and the Second Prize in the Scholarship competition. UCC students of Italian have won the Scholarship on seven out of eleven occasions since the award was made on the basis of performance in the examinations (language and culture) of the constituent universities at which Italian is taught (UCC, UCD, NUIG).
