US Study Abroad Advisor trip to UCC with Education in Ireland

The International Office at UCC welcomes US Study Abroad professionals to campus

 

International Office staff, Marita Foster (Deputy Director), Karen McSweeney (Visiting Student Coordinator) and Mary-Brid Murphy (Study Abroad Advisor) welcomed two groups of study abroad professionals to UCC this week. 

The trip was facilitated by Education in Ireland which included a weeklong tour of Irish universities. The Study Abroad professionals were provided with talks from Dr Michael Byrne – Head of Student Health and Wellbeing Service, Éadaoin Regan from the UCC Skills Centre and Gary Mulcahy of the UCC Accommodation and Community Life Office. 

The visitors also met with UCC Faculty members, Dr Tomas Ó Carragáin – Department of Archaeology, College of Arts, Celtic Studies and Social Sciences, Professor Pádraig Ó Macháin– Head of Modern Irish, College of Arts, Celtic Studies and Social Sciences, Professor Edward Shinnick – School of Economics, College of Business and Law, Dr Eleni Tsalaporti– Process and Chemical Engineering, College of Science, Engineering & Food Science and Dr Kellie Dean – Biochemistry and Cell Biology, College of Science, Engineering & Food Science.

The US Study Abroad professionals were also treated to a trip to Cobh, campus tour, a guided Cork city tour by Deputy Director, Marita Foster and a visit to an accommodation complex. 

Four of our current US Visiting Students also met with the group to share their experiences at UCC. 

A friendly and engaging in-person trip with our US partners after two years of video-calls and emails.
