Conference on St Colman's Cathedral, Cobh

A conference to mark the centenary of the consecration of the iconic Saint Colman’s Cathedral, Cobh and the sesquicentenary of the laying of its foundation stone will take place on Saturday, 9 March 2019 in the Commodore Hotel, Cobh.
Topics to be covered include social, political and religious developments, at a national and local level, during the period of the construction of the cathedral and its consecration (1868-1919). The artistic, architectural and engineering aspects of the building will also be considered. The musical heritage of St Colman’s will be addressed in the context of the Gebruers family’s almost century-long connection with the cathedral. A number of UCC Staff, including Marita Foster, Deputy Head of the International Office, will speak at the conference. If you would like a copy of the conference programme please contact Marita directly.
