UCC School of Chemistry hosts summer student from UNICAMP (Brazil) supported by an RSC International Student Research Bursary

This summer, the School of Chemistry was delighted to host Jeevani Yelisetty for an internship within the research group of Dr. Christopher Burke.

Jeevani travelled from UNICAMP university in Brazil to join us for five weeks to work on the development of synthetic routes towards the preparation of chromium(III) polypyridyl complexes for photodynamic therapy applications. The Royal Society of Chemistry funds two researchers per year based across the world to travel to an accredited university in Ireland or the UK by awarding them an RSC International Student Research Bursary. Jeevani and Dr. Burke now plan to advance the preliminary work as part of a postgraduate project in collaboration with researchers working on metal-based therapeutics at UNICAMP.
