School of Chemistry Poster Session 2026
The School of Chemistry at University College Cork was delighted to host its Annual Poster Session on Wednesday, 1 April 2026, in the magnificent surroundings of the Aula Maxima. The event brought together students, researchers, and academic staff in a vibrant showcase of scientific excellence, with posters reflecting the exceptional breadth and depth of research activity across the School.
The quality of the posters on display was outstanding, with contributions spanning the School's diverse research programmes and representing work at the highest level. From cutting-edge analytical and medicinal chemistry to sustainable materials and atmospheric science, the session provided a compelling overview of the innovative research being pursued within the School.
Third-year SCILS module students, also presented posters of a remarkably high standard. Their contributions demonstrated genuine scientific engagement, clear communication of complex ideas, and a high level of enthusiasm.
The School of Chemistry is delighted to acknowledge the continued generous support of Eli Lilly, whose sponsorship of this event plays a vital role in enabling such important opportunities for students and researchers to share their work, build connections, and celebrate scientific achievement. We are deeply grateful for this ongoing partnership.
Professor Anita Maguire, Head of School said “Well done to all of the students on the poster presentations of their research projects. Each year this this one of the highlights of the academic year where we get to see the research undertaken across the School in diverse areas and the progress made by each of the students on their area of focus. Developing communication skills is a key step in the career journey. Sincere thanks to Eli Lilly for their sponsorship each year which makes this event possible. A special word of thanks to Emma Alcock who represented Eli Lilly at this event, discussed the posters with the students and presented the prizes for the top posters.”
