Last week, Dr Niamh O’Mahoney received a UCC President's Award for Excellence in Teaching at a ceremony in the Aula Maxima.

The Teaching Excellence Awards at UCC represent the longest-standing initiative of its kind in Ireland. These awards recognise and celebrate staff members who have made substantial contributions to teaching excellence. Recipients exhibit innovative and creative methodologies in teaching, learning, and assessment, which significantly enhance student learning and outcomes. The scope of teaching encompasses course design and implementation, as well as research and inquiry into effective teaching, learning, and assessment practices.

A group of award recipients pose for a photo in the Aula Maxima with Professor John O'Halloran, President of UCC. Portraits of all previous UCC Presidents hang on the wall behind.Prof Anita Maguire, Head of School, congratulating Niamh on this award, said, “it is tremendous to see Niamh’s work recognised through this award. Ensuring our curriculum is accessible to all is a key priority and sharing best practice in this area is critically important.”

We are delighted that Niamh’s work was acknowledged by this university-wide award - huge congratulations, Niamh!
