Green Chemistry Mini-Symposium organised by Dr Gillian Collins at EuChemS Chemistry Congress in Dublin
A dedicated mini-symposium on Green Chemistry Education was organised by Dr Gillian Collins in collaboration with Beyond Benign as part of the 9th EuChemS Chemistry Congress in Dublin.
Graduates with expertise in green chemistry are highly sought after as industries increasingly prioritise sustainability. The event unpins the urgent need for education frameworks that integrate green chemistry principles and emphasise sustainability. Equipping students with the necessary skills is essential for developing sustainable practices in industry and also enable students contribute to addressing wider environmental and sustainability challenges.
The symposium featured a plenary talk by Glenn Hurst, Professor of Green Chemistry Education at the University of York, whose research specialises in adopting systems-thinking approaches within all levels of green and sustainable chemistry education. The symposium also highlighted innovative approaches adopted by the School of Chemistry at UCC as part of the Green Chemistry Commitment.
