Summer 2023 Postgraduate Conferrings in the School of Biochemistry and Cell Biology

Congratulations to PhD and MRes graduates who were conferred on Friday 23rd June 2023.

Dr Sophia Elisseeva conducted her postgraduate research under the supervision of Professor Dmitri Papkovsky and Professor Joe Kerry. Her thesis was entitled the ‘Development of a sensor-based rapid microbial testing platform for the Irish meat industry.

Dr Darren Fenton conducted his postgraduate research under the supervision of Professor Pasha Baranov and Professor John Morrissey. His thesis was entitled the ‘Development of a ribosome profiling protocol to study translation in the yeast Kluyveromyces marxianus.’

Dr Grant Godsmark conducted his postgraduate research under the supervision of Professor Rosemary O’Connor. His thesis was entitled the ‘Regulation of Intracellular Trafficking of the Insulin-like Growth Factor I Receptor.’

Dr Christina Killian conducted her postgraduate research under the supervision of Dr Susan Joyce and Dr David Clarke. Her thesis was entitled the ‘Investigating the host-microbe dialogue in aging.’

Dr Joss Murray conducted his postgraduate research under the supervision of Professor Rosemary O’Connor. His thesis was entitled the ‘IGF-1 Signaling controls Mitochondrial Morphology and Basal Mitophagy in Cancer.’

Congratulations to MRes graduate, Lisa Breen, who conducted her postgraduate research under the supervision of Professor Tommie McCarthy. Her thesis was entitled the ‘Generation of a CRISPR-Cas9 Mediated Knock-in Reporter for the GRIA3 Candidate Gene for Schizophrenia.’
