President's News
Paul O'Donovan named Graduate of the Year 2023
On 20 March Quercus Sports Scholar, UCC Rower and Olympic gold-medal winner Paul O'Donovan was recognised as UCC's Graduate of the Year 2023. In May 2023 Paul achieved a first class honours degree in medicine.
This award is made annually to the most distinguished student of the year and in making the award both academic distinctions and the part played in the public life of the University are taken into consideration. During his time as a student at UCC Paul made an outstanding contribution to our community, winning an Olympic Gold Medal at the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo, three World Championships and two European Gold Medals. Paul will again represent Ireland in the Olympic Games in Paris this year and we wish him the very best of luck at this event.
