UCC Physiology: Getting high Research Expedition in Nepal

Professor Ken O’Halloran and PhD trainee David Burns will join a Canadian-led expedition in Nepal next week where the team will engage in research along the traditional route to Everest Base Camp. Novel techniques for the assessment of ventilatory control at high altitude and characterisation of central sleep apnoea in healthy volunteers are a flavour of the work of the international team, which includes scientists from Canada, New Zealand and Ireland.
