Alzheimer's Research Grant Success

3 Apr 2014

Dr. Barry Boland was recently awarded a New Investigator Research Grant from the Alzheimer’s Association (U.S.A). (http://www.alz.org/)

This $100,000 grant will support Dr. Boland’s research in the Dept. of Pharmacology and Therapeutics for the next two years. Dr. Boland’s research is focused on understanding how an impairment of cellular waste clearance by lysosomes, contributes to neurodegeneration in Alzheimer’s disease. This grant will allow Dr. Boland to continue his translational research collaboration with Prof. William Molloy (School of Medicine, UCC), which was established last year with seed funding support from the School of Medicine’s Translational Research Access Programme (TRAP).
