Chief Justice of Ireland to Relaunch the Irish Legal Information Institute at UCC

16 Oct 2019

The Chief Justice of Ireland, the Hon. Mr. Justice Frank Clarke, will relaunch the Irish Legal Information Institute on 22nd October.

UCC is the Irish hub of the global Free Access to Law Movement (FALM), which is committed to ensuring that legal decisions are made available to all, on a non-profit basis and free of charge, to remove any barriers of status, income or location and to promote justice, equality, inclusion and the rule of law.

UCC participates in FALM through its management of both IRLII.org and legalperiodicals.org, which were under the careful stewardship of Professor John Mee for many years. Dr. Patrick O’Callaghan and Dr Maria Cahill have recently re-invigorated UCC’s commitment to FALM with the help of a dedicated team of student researchers, in order to ensure even greater accessibility of judicial decisions and journal articles published in Ireland, particularly through social media platforms.

The Chief Justice of Ireland, the Hon. Mr. Justice Frank Clarke, has very graciously agreed to come to UCC on 22nd October in order to recognise these efforts and to officially launch our new website and Twitter account in the Aula Maxima at 6pm.

In the spirit of FALM, everybody is welcome to join us at this event.
