The University Staff Recognition Awards and the President's Awards for Teaching Excellence took place on Tuesday 26th April.  The ceremony was postponed since 2021 and it was so positive to see this event take place in person again. In 2021, thirteen awards will be presented across six categories: The Frank McGrath Perpetual Award for Equality and Welfare, Impact, Leadership, Exceptional Citizen, Enhancing the Student Experience and Outstanding Colleague award.

Dr. Gerard Culley was nominated and awarded a Leadership Award on the night. The President spoke at the event about the key role played by IT Services to support our entire university community throughout the COVID crisis. Helping to move our 23,000 students and 5,000 staff to work online within a few days back in March 2020. The leadership award is a recognition of that contribution, and an acknowledgement of the critical role that IT now plays in the future of this University.

We want to congratulate all our colleagues who were nominated for an award and received an award on this special evening in UCC.  Thank you to the Staff Development Committee for their work in acknowledging the outstanding achievements by UCC staff and for recognising and celebrating these achievements.
