So much change in academia: and yet how much?
On 19th November, ISS21 Genders, Sexualities & Families research cluster and MA Women’s Studies in association with UCC Futures – Collective Social Futures presented a talk by Pat O’Connor, emeritus Professor of Sociology and Social Policy, University of Limerick, and Visiting Professor, Geary Institute, University College Dublin.
Pat O’Connor is an academic insider who is an engaging, humorous, and deeply honest speaker. A full professor and former Dean, she has published widely on higher education, its gendered processes, and the gendered aspects of women’s lives over a 46-year academic career as she tried to create change in academia, organisationally, nationally and internationally.
On the evening, Pat read extracts from her memoir : ‘A ‘proper’ woman? One woman’s story of success and failure in academia’ (Peter Lang, 2024)and talked on the topic of So much change in academia: and yet how much?
We were delighted to have so many members of the MA Women’s Studies class in attendance at such an enjoyable evening.
Thank you to Pat and everyone who attended and participated in the evening. Keep up to date with ISS21 cluster news and events by visiting https://www.ucc.ie/en/iss21/
