Presenter biography:
Dr Matt Ryan is Associate Professor in Governance and Public Policy at the University of Southampton. He is Co-Director of the Centre for Democratic Futures, Policy Director at the Web Science Institute, and a Turing Fellow. His research focuses on democratic innovation, participation in policymaking, and improving social research methods. He is Principal Investigator of the Rebooting Democracy project and chairs the central research team for the Participedia project. His monograph Why Citizen Participation Succeeds or Fails was published by Bristol University Press in 2021.
