As part of RTE Radio 1 “The Business” series, presenter Richard Curran interviews siblings Nicholas and Pauline Dunne about their award-winning ‘Killowen Farm’ business.

“The story of a farm that once just had a few dairy cows, but now it’s a yogurt company on the verge of a 20-million-euro turnover.”

Wexford farmer Nicholas Dunne started the award-winning Killowen Farm yogurt’s story back in 2004 when he decided to create a product with his herd’s milk rather than send it to his local creamery. With the help of his sister, Pauline, 'Killowen Farm' is now both a national and international brand, exporting its Irish yogurt to a range of international markets, including Dubai, Hong Kong, Malaysia and Singapore.

In this fascinating radio interview, Nicholas acknowledges his time as a board member of ‘Wexford Creamery’ as “the best education of (his) life”, and for giving him the opportunity to study UCC’s Diploma in Corporate Direction (Food Business) crediting it as having “tweaked something in (him), …a curiosity, a different line of thinking”.

This kickstarted Nicholas’ ambition to acquire the local Killowen Yogurt manufacturing facility, which had recently closed its doors back in 2004. The original owner, Paul Kinsella, worked with Nicholas and Pauline, very generously teaching them and building their knowledge of all things yogurt. And now ‘Killowen Farm’ a company on the verge of a €20 million turnover!
