What is the Access Welcome?

A ‘pre-boarding’ event that invites Access students to campus, ahead of their compulsory Academic Orientations and Access service ‘Connection Events’

It is designed to address the feedback from students that since the global pandemic they have experienced more loneliness, isolation, difficulty making and keeping friends, and establishing a feeling of belonging in the University.

The Access Welcome has three goals that will hopefully help incoming Access first year students to settle in, during what is a difficult and challenging transition period:

  1. Meet a friend
  2. Meet Access staff
  3. Clear next steps for starting in UCC

What you can expect from the day:

1. Get to know your support team

Touch base with our team and get to meet members of Access UCC Student Support Team!

2. Take part in a tour around UCC

Navigate your way around UCC with a tour of campus, and have a chat with our Access Student Ambassadors along the way!

3. Meet new people, make new friends

Don’t get abducted by study too soon, speak to the wonderful Access student body and make some new friends!

4. Play games, win prizes

Take part in some fun activities and get in with a chance to win some UCC merch and other exciting prizes!

5. Q&A with a student panel & UCC staff

6. Enjoy some lunch and time to chill
