2014. November 17th. Book Launch – Cyphers on translation: Spain and Latin America poets

17 Nov 2014

November 17th – Instituto Cervantes in Dublin

The Irish literary magazine Cyphers was founded in 1975, edited by four poets: Leland Bardwell, Eiléan Ní Chuilleanáin, Macdara Woods and the late Pearse Hutchinson.  Pearse Hutchinson was an enthusiastic reader and translator of poetry from the Iberian languages, and after his death in 2012 his colleagues determined to carry on his work of exploring and celebrating the literatures of the Hispanic world.

Professor Cormac Ó Cuilleanáin (TCD) will launch Cyphers 78, and Sinéad Mac Aodha of Ireland Literature Exchange will respond, on Monday 17th November at 6 p.m. in the Café Literario.
Come, share a glass of wine and hear poems read in the original languages by Aurelio Vargas and Martín Veiga, and in translation by Peter Sirr, Macdara Woods and Vincent Woods.
