Presenting study findings to Minister Kathleen Lynch

5 Oct 2012

Master of Social Work student presents her study findings to Minister Kathleen Lynch ...

Teresa Cronin, Master of Social Work student (2012), gave a short presentation of her project on Post Natal Depression on Friday 28th September in Cork University Hospital. The title of the study was: Postnatal Depression: Prevalence, Peer Social Support and Policy (Ireland and International Literature Review)

It was a celebration of the PNDs 20th anniversary and attended by Minister Kathleen Lynch, other politicians and CUH-staff amongst others. Postnatal Depression Ireland is a civil society organisation providing support to women who experience post-natal depression through peer-support networks and online services.

Teresa's project was a joint collaboration between Postnal Depression Ireland and Community Academic Research Links (CARL). CARL is a small initiative in UCC to assist Civil Society Organisations in the region (for example, community and voluntary groups) with research they would like to carry out. Research is undertaken by students for the CSOs free of financial cost (as much as possible).

Kathleen Lynch encouraged Teresa to forward her report to the Mental Health Commission.

See our completed projects page to access a copy of Teresa's report, and all of the other CARL research reports.
