Free Elsevier journal access for researchers in between contracts

Elsevier have announced free journal access to researchers in between contracts or if they are independently sub-contracting
The initiative has stemmed from discussions between Elsevier and Dr. Gordon Dalton (Chair of the International Consortium of Research Staff Associations and vice-chair of UCCRSA) during ESOF2014 in Copenhagen, regarding the difficulty faced by researchers in these positions.
In a majority of cases, researchers are cut off from academic journal access following the completion of a contract, limiting their ability to continue their research until they start another contract
- Similar problems are faced by researchers that make the big jump to be become independent sub-contractors, who sub-contract themselves back to a university
- Journal access for individuals can be prohibitively expensive limiting their ability to stay connected to the research community
Should you find yourself in such a scenario go to http://www.elsevier.com/journal-authors/an-opportunity-for-postdoctoral-scholars for more information. Unlimited complimentary access is for up to 6 months.
Best wishes,
UCCRSA committee
