PhD candidate Kimberley Stephenson delivers Oral Communication at PhySoc 2019
PhD candidate, Ms. Kimberley Stephenson, attended The Physiological Society Meeting in Aberdeen, Scotland in July 2019
and delivered an oral communication in one of the neuroscience session's titled:
"Modified hippocampal long-term potentiation in mdx mice can be recapitulated in wild type comparators by acute exposure to the pro-inflammatory cytokine, interleukin-6".
Kim is supervised by Dr. Dervla O'Malley, Department of Physiology and APC Microbiome Institute and Dr. Mark Rae, Department of Physiology. Kim’s PhD project is funded by a Health Research Board Investigator Led Project award and aims to investigate a potential therapeutic intervention, targeting an inflammatory cytokine, to improve cognitive dysfunction related to dystrophin deficiency in a model of Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy.
