GALAs LGBTQ+ Award success for Trans Healthcare Action including School of Nursing & Midwifery Lecturer Ryan Goulding

The 2024 GALA LGBTQ+ Awards ceremony were held in the Dublin Royal Convention Centre on Saturday, the 5th of October
Organised by the National LGBT Federation, this was the 11th occurrence of the awards ceremony.
Trans Healthcare Action, a volunteer-run grassroots group that focuses on medical and political advocacy to create a healthcare system that is equitable and affirming to all trans people across Ireland, of which SoNM lecturer Ryan Goulding is a committee member and medical co-lead, won the Community Organisation (Volunteer Staff) Award.
Committee members were present to accept the award, and as part of the acceptance speech highlighted the shortcomings of the current model of care and the need to move towards an informed-consent model of trans healthcare that is based in primary care, which is co-produced and centres the needs of the trans community at its centre.
