Clinical Commencement Ceremony: BSc Year 1 Midwifery Students

The Clinical Commencement Ceremony is to celebrate a very important milestone
Year 1 BSc Midwifery students in the School of Nursing and Midwifery in UCC recently attended a Clinical Commencement Ceremony to celebrate a very important milestone in their student journey ahead of their first clinical placement. At the ceremony, students were reminded that being a student midwife comes with a responsibility to exemplify professionalism and a commitment to caring. Keynote address was given by Ms Agnes Phelan, Lecturer who emphasised the values and role of the midwife and the student midwife as part of the multidisciplinary team in providing care to mothers and babies. In November and December, UCC year 1 BSc Midwifery students are commencing their first clinical placements in both Cork University Maternity Hospital and Kerry University Hospital. As part of the BSc Midwifery programme, students will complete placements in the South, South West Hospital Groups maternity units and other specialist areas. The School of Nursing and Midwifery in UCC and Allied Health Care Partners wish year 1 BSc Midwifery students well as they commence their placements.
