HRB Funding Awarded for study ‘Practice Enhancement for Exclusive Breastfeeding (PEEB)’

Awarded a HRB Applied Partnership Award (€240,000).
The School of Nursing & Midwifery Research Group Maternity, Families and Primary Care has been awarded a HRB Applied Partnership Award (€240,000). The initiative is Practice Enhancement for Exclusive Breastfeeding (PEEB) across the pregnant woman’s Perinatal journey from first confirmation of pregnancy with GP practice, through the maternity services for antenatal, intranatal and postnatal care and seamless transition to the community and will include public health nursing, GPs and practice nurse services, maternity services and breast feeding mothers.
Research findings will have a direct impact on decision-making and will have a significant impact on the health and well-being of women, their infants and families.
Lead Researcher: Academic lead is Dr Patricia Leahy-Warren (Senior Lecturer, UCC) and Clinical Lead is Ms Sandra O'Connor (Director of Midwifery, UHK).
