UNC, UCC & Argentine Embassy International Law Event

The first international law hybrid seminar with Universidad Nacional de Cordoba (UNC), Argentina, was held on 31 March 2025 in UCC
The seminar was opened by HE Ana Laura Cachaza, Argentine Ambassador and Professor Ursula Kilkelly, Vice President Global Engagement, UCC.
Professor Luciano Pezzano, UNC, presented on the principles of decolonisation and self-determination under international law, distinguishing between different decolonisation processes and underlining the role of the UN General Assembly. Dr Henrietta Zeffert, UCC School of Law, presented a case study on the Chagos Islands, thinking through the impact of recent political announcements on Mauritian sovereignty over the Chagos and the Chagossians’ own struggle for justice.
Cliona Maher, International Strategy Officer for Latin America & the Caribbean at UCC, organised this event.
We look forward to deepening cooperation with Argentina and UNC. UNC is the oldest university in Argentina and a great destination for UCC Staff and Students.
