The School of Law invites applications for two PhD scholarships

We are delighted to announce that applications are now open for two scholarships to pursue PhD study at the School of Law.
Join one of Ireland’s most successful graduate research programmes in Law. Students are provided with an unparalleled experience within a well-established and vibrant community of doctoral scholars, with access to experienced supervisors who are internationally recognised experts in their fields and a suite of tailored supports, facilities and activities.
Both scholarships cover tuition fees (fully funded) and a stipend of EUR 25,000 per year for up to 4 years. Separately renumerated opportunities in teaching and tutoring may be available during the PhD. Successful candidates will be expected to commence in the autumn intake of 2025, though there may be some limited flexibility with a start date.
One scholarship is offered by the School of Law and is open to candidates in any field of Law. Read the application guidelines and eligibility requirements here: PhD Scholarship with Application Form
The second scholarship is offered by the School of Law in partnership with leading Irish and global law firm Matheson and the Department of Business Information Systems in the College of Business and Law at UCC. This scholarship is open to candidates working in the intersection between law, innovation and technology. Read the application guidelines and eligibility requirements here: Matheson Scholarship with Application Form
Each scholarship has specific application requirements. Please read the guidelines and requirements carefully to assess your eligibility and the information required.
The School of Law particularly welcomes applications from groups that are underrepresented in doctoral study and/or their field of Law. The School has a strong commitment to diversity, inclusion and equity.
Both opportunities close at 5pm on 20 June 2025, and general enquiries may be directed to lawpostgrad@ucc.ie
