Call for Papers: 10th Postgraduate Research Symposium on Environmental Law
Postgraduate researchers working in any area of Environmental, Planning or Natural Resources Law, Policy, Regulation or Governance are invited to submit abstracts.
With a view to providing an informal platform for postgraduate research students working in the area of Environmental Law (broadly understood) to meet, present their research and network, the School of Law, UCC is planning to host the 10th annual Postgraduate Research Symposium on Environmental Law on Wednesday 25th April 2018. The Symposium will immediately precede the 16th annual Law and the Environment conference to be held on Thursday 26th April. It is intended to offer around 12 postgraduate students the opportunity to present (for around 30 minutes each), either an outline of their research experience to date or on a substantive issue central to their ongoing research. Papers are invited from postgraduate researchers at any stage of their research project working in any area of Environmental, Planning or Natural Resources Law, Policy, Regulation or Governance.
Details of last year’s Symposium are available at the following link:
Unfortunately, there is no budget to cover travel and accommodation expenses of presenters, but we can offer free attendance at the main Law and the Environment 2018 event, which this year focuses on the theme ‘Towards Environmental Responsibility, Accountability and Liability’, and promises a very exciting line up of speakers and topics in this, its 16th year.
Those presenting at the Postgraduate Symposium are also invited to attend the Speakers’ Dinner on Wednesday evening, which will provide a unique opportunity to network with the speakers and chairs from the Law and the Environment 2018 conference.
Abstracts should be submitted to o.mcintyre@ucc.ie by Friday 30th March 2018 (or earlier if possible). Please also feel free to get in touch with any queries about this event.

On our first podcast of 2018, Jane Mulcahy speaks with Anne Marie Crean about Reclaiming Self, an organisation which provides opportunity and support to those who have experienced systematic, institutional state abuse, the environment to openly discuss their past, develop self-reclamation and seek support in a non-intrusive, survivor-orientated atmosphere via various educational, emotional and social supports.
With thanks to the Referendum Commission, we also have Dr Conor O'Mahony's address at the Citizen's Assembly, where he spoke on the legal regulation of referendum campaigns.
