IDEAS FOR IMPACT is a 12 hour hackathon designed to find new ideas to solve the world’s biggest problems.

The title for  IDEAS FOR IMPACT this Autumn 2022 is  MAKING LIVES BETTER in Lesotho and Malawi with a specific focus on three Sustainable Development Goals: Zero Hunger, Good Health and Wellbeing and Quality Education.

If selected to participate, you’ll work on a small team with students from different areas of study and diverse backgrounds and will receive the support of experienced innovation and entrepreneurship mentors. You’ll have 12 hours to develop an innovative idea that can significantly change the lives of people in Lesotho and Malawi . And you’ll have the chance to pitch your idea to a panel of experts. The best ideas will win an award and a cash prize.

IDEAS FOR IMPACT is open to all  UCC undergraduate and post graduate students from all four colleges. All you need is an open mind, an interest in getting involved and a passion to make a difference.

We’ll kick off with an introductory breakfast at 08.00 and finish with live pitches at 19.00. Along the way we’ll set the challenge, provide advice on creative thinking, business model development, team working and pitching skills, and have expert mentors on hand to help you develop your ideas. And we’ll even include lunch and dinner.
