Dr Donal O Drisceoil

Congratulations to Dr Donal O Drisceoil, School of History, on his promotion to Senior Lecturer in History.

Donal O Drisceoil lectures in History at University College Cork and is joint editor of Saothar, the Irish labour history journal. He is the author of Censorship in Ireland, 1939-45: Neutrality, Politics and Society (1996), Peadar O'Donnell (2001) and co-author of The Murphy's Story: The History of Lady's Well Brewery, Cork (1997) with Diarmuid O Drisceoil. Donal and Diarmuid O Drisceoil collaborated on Serving a City: The Story of Cork's English Market (2005) and Fifty Years Have Flown: The History of Cork Airport (2011). Donal acted as historical advisor to Ken Loach's 2006 film The Wind that Shakes the Barley, set during the Irish War of Independence (1919–1922) and the Irish Civil War (1922–1923). For more information visit his profile.
