6:40 Launch of Annual Report 2018 by Professor Patrick O’Shea
6:45 Brief presentation by Pat Ledwidge (Director of Strategic Planning and Economic Development, Cork City Council) about Cork’s future after the boundary extension and in the context of the National Planning Framework.
6:55 Presentation of three awards – Undergraduate essay; Post-graduate thesis; Lifetime Contribution.
7:00 Introduction of speakers by Dr Theresa Reidy on a theme – Who runs the local government?
7:05 First speaker (National perspective): Jan O’Sullivan TD, Labour Party Spokesperson on Local Government
7:20 Second speaker (Chief Executive perspective): Paul Reid, Chief Executive, Fingal County Council
7:35 Third speaker (Councillor perspective): Mary Rose Desmond, a current elected member in Cork County Council but standing in the city in May’s elections, due to boundary extension.
