UCC host Conference of Irish Geographers

9 May

The Conference of Irish Geographers is the annual conference of the Geographical Society of Ireland and the Schools of Geography in Higher Education institutions around the island of Ireland.  This year’s conference which took place from Thursday 4th of May to Saturday 6th of May 2017 was hosted by UCC.  The conference was very successful with over 170 geographers in attendance.

The theme of this year's conference was ‘Disruptions and Transgressions’, and a wide variety of geographers, academics and artists gathered in UCC to participate in a full and dynamic programme of activities, presentations, workshops, field excursions, plenary lectures and screenings.  Excellent keynote lectures where given by Prof Jenny Pickerill (University of Sheffield) and Dr Bradley Garrett (University of Southampton).

It was a dynamic, informative, engaging, and fascinating three days.
