New Director for ERI

The Head of the School of BEES has been appointed Director of the Environmental Research Institute at University College Cork.

Sarah Culloty has been appointed Director of the ERI.  She is currently Head of the School of Biological, Earth and Environmental Sciences, a role she will also continue.

She has been  Director of the Aquaculture and Fisheries Development Centre one of the constituent Centres of the ERI since 2008. Working closely with the Aquaculture industry she has been involved in over 25 externally funded projects (including 15 EU funded projects) and has worked on multidisciplinary projects with colleagues within UCC, nationally and internationally throughout her career.

The Environmental Research Institute (ERI) is a flagship research Institute at University College Cork, Ireland (UCC) that carries out inter-disciplinary research in the broad Environmental, Marine and Energy area.

The mission of the ERI is to generate new research knowledge for the understanding and protection of our natural environment and develop technologies, tools and services to facilitate a transformation to a low carbon and resource efficient society. The Institute’s core principles are to deliver excellent research, high quality postgraduate training and innovation with impact.
