The Kerry Way - a radio documentary

Darren Reidy at Brida Valley

BEES PhD student Darren Reidy has teamed up with radio producer J.J. O'Shea to create a four part radio documentary entitled "The Kerry Way".

The series follows the journey of Darren and J.J. as they trek the popular route, exploring the wildlife, natural history, archaeology and anthropology along the way. The journey occurs over four seasons and documents the changing landscape, flora and fauna throughout the year, as well as taking a look back in time to discover the processes that sculpted the beautiful landscape that is now 'The Kerry Way'.

The journey is complimented by archaeological information from John Sheehan of UCC's Dept. of Archaeology, poetry inspired by the landscape from Paddy Bushe and children's excerpts from the 1938 schools project, read by David & Rebecca Osbourne. A podcast of the first installment of the show can be found at the following link, with the subsequent episodes to follow:

The project was funded by the Broadcasting Authority of Ireland and originally produced for Radio Kerry.
