Dervla O’Malley
Biography
Dervla is a lecturer in the Department of Physiology and a faculty member in the Alimentary Pharmabiotic Centre. She graduated with a first class honours degree in Biomedical Sciences from the University of Ulster prior to undertaking a PhD in the Division of Neurosciences at the University of Dundee. Her research career has included a year as a visiting scholar in the University of Nevada, Reno, post-doctoral positions in the University of Cambridge and the University of Edinburgh prior to taking up a senior post-doctoral position in the Alimentary Pharmabiotic Centre. Dervla’s research interests include neuronal control of gastrointestinal function with a focus on the modulation of the activation of the enteric nervous system by immune signalling molecules and endocrine hormones.
